TREE PERMIT BY-LAW
Share your views on proposed changes to the Tree Permit By-law (475-05)

Mississauga, May 1, 2012 - The City of Mississauga is looking for public input at three Public Information Centres on the proposed changes to the Tree Permit By-law.

"The City is working to protect and establish a sustainable tree canopy by introducing proposed changes to the Tree Permit By-law while respecting a property owner's right to develop their land," said Gavin Longmuir, manager, Forestry.

Staff recommendations include:

• the introduction of a single-tree removal permit for trees over 30 cm in diameter;
• changes to the permit fee structure;
• increased fines for non-compliance; and
• changes to the replacement tree requirements.
Feedback gathered at the meetings and through the online survey (available May 12 - 31) will be used to shape the final set of recommendations to Council this fall.
